These terms set the rules for using Watertown Residents Directory. By using the service, you accept them. Do not use the service if you do not agree.

1. Nature of This Service

Watertown Residents Directory is a private reference. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections connected to Watertown, Jefferson County, and New York. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with an office, court, or record custodian.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use this service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it, or material located through it, to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person

  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make FCRA-regulated decisions (credit, employment, tenant, insurance)
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale

3. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Watertown Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Neither this reference nor a linked search result is a consumer report. Nothing from either may be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-covered purpose.

4. Links to Outside Sites

Government portals and external services, including sponsored search tools, apply their own terms and policies. We do not control their content, availability, pricing, or data practices.

5. No Warranties

This service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties. We do not promise that its information is complete, current, or accurate, or that a linked portal will function or return correct results.

6. Limits on Our Liability

To the greatest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages resulting from use of this service or a linked source, including decisions made from a record located through them.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the service operators harmless from claims or demands, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from misuse of the service or a breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting brief material with attribution is allowed. Republishing whole pages or systematically copying content is not.

9. Changes to These Terms

We can revise these terms by posting an updated version here. Continued use after publication indicates acceptance of the revision.

10. Cutting Off Access

We may block or limit access for a user who violates these terms or abuses the service, at our discretion and without notice.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by New York law without regard to conflict-of-law principles. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law article 6, sections 84 through 90, governs access to qualifying government agency records, subject to its exemptions and the record-specific laws described by their custodians.

12. Severability

If a provision of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay effective.
